The Netherlands’ Ombudsman for Children (hereinafter referred to as the ‘Ombudsman’) believes that vaccination should be made possible for healthy children between the ages of 5 and 12. The Ombudsman emphasises that a parent’s choice to vaccinate or not to vaccinate their child should remain a free choice, and that this choice must not be allowed to lead to adverse effects for unvaccinated children. The Ombudsman has reached this conclusion after examining the possible benefits of vaccination to children, and not to the interests of adults.
