The countries that have signed the Convention must make the rules in the Convention widely known to both adults and children. They must do this in a way that is easy to understand and reaches as many people as possible.

Explanation

The government must make sure that information about the Convention is widely known among children and adults. That is why the information is also available on this website. It is important for children to know that they have their own rights and what those rights are. They should be taught about this, but in the Netherlands this does not happen in all schools. The Committee on the Rights of the Child checks whether countries follow the Convention. This Committee has repeatedly said that the Netherlands must do better. The government must make sure that all schools teach children about their rights.
